Rare and selected Glenkinchie Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Glenkinchie is a distillery at Pencaitland, East Lothian in the Lowlands of Scotland. The distillery is now part of spirits group Diageo (formerly United Distillers), the whisky is marketed as part of the Classic Malts series of operations. The distillery was founded under the name Milton 1825 by the brothers George and John Rate and until 1837 renamed Glenkinchie. 1853 Rate Brothers went bankrupt and until 1881 no whisky was produced. 1914 came the distillery to Scottish Malt Distillers (SMD). Between 1917 and 1920 the distillery was, like many others, closed. 1968 floor maltings was closed in 1969 and converted into a whisky museum. In 1987, the distillery at United Distillers and Vintners (UDV), and ultimately to Diageo. Today it is one of the last remaining operating distilleries in the Lowlands.
