A rare vintage 1989 15 year old Glenmorangie Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the Single Cask Rare Limited Edition, distilled on 19th September 1989 and after 15 years of maturation in a port pipe with cask no. 6678 personally selected by Master Distiller Bill Lumsden, bottled without added colouring and chill filtration at cask strength 53.3% vol on 7th September 2005 at 75cl presumably for the American market in an edition of only 796 bottles. Each bottle was individually numbered by hand and personally signed by Dr. Bill Lumsden.
The result is an exceptional Glenmorangie Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, the flavour is intense and complex, with a dimension of fruit and spice to the classic chocolate notes.
Only rarely found today, a true jewel and special rarity from Glenmorangie for connoisseurs and whisky-collectors of first-class Scotch whiskies!
- Nose: intensely deep on the nose at cask strength, the initial aromas are nutty and spicy with ginger and cloves and fresh top notes of spearmint. Soft fruit and reamy vanilla are discovered, peaches and cream, milk chocolate with vanilla ice cream
- Palate: Velvety and mouth-coating the mouth feel is spicy and warming. A delicious combination of toasty, nutte flavour with spicy ginger, nutmeg and cloves are the first flavours to fill the palate. Later orange oil and rich dark chocolate with hints of molasses emerge with a whiff of eucalyptus
- Finish: lingering aftertaste of dark bitter orange chocolate
