Hakushu Sherry Cask Release 2013 Limited Edition Japan Single Malt Whisky 48.0% Vol. - one of 3.000 bottles of a marvelous Japan Single Malt from Suntory Hakushu!
The exquisite Suntory Hakushu Sherry Cask 2013 Limited Edition Japan Single Malt is the 2nd edition and to date the last penultimate bottling from Hakushu of the now world renowned and famous Hakushu and Yamazaki Sherry Cask Limed Edition series from 2013 and is made from only the finest and most original ingredients.
The Hakushu distillery is a flagship of Japanese whisky art, is undoubtedly one of the highest in the world and is located about 120 km west of Tokyo amidst the forests of Kaikomagatake Mountain in the Southern Japanese Alps and was once the largest malt distillery in the world. Here, 24 stills can produce up to 26 million litres annually. The distillery was founded in 1973 and expanded in 1981 with another production building with 12 pot stills. Today, only one of the still houses is still in operation, but they have remained true to the principle of diversity. Nowhere else is there a comparable range of shapes and sizes of pot stills. Hakushu's bottlings use imported malt from Scotland and Ireland. The special climate, the lush forests, the water - whose clarity and purity is only achieved by filtering rain and meltwater through millennia-old granite rock - all influence the special malt whiskies produced here. Hakushu is the third distillery in the Suntory-Bowmore group, alongside the famous Yamazaki and Hibiki distilleries, and produces a highly regarded single malt whisky worldwide. Thus, the excellent work of the Yamazaki distillery was honoured in 2014 with a knighthood by the world-renowned whisky expert Jim Murray: for the first time, a renowned British expert has given the award for the world's best whisky to Japan. The Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013 Single Malt achieved the impressive score of 97.5 out of a possible 100 points in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2015, making it one of the best whiskies in the world.
A wonderful piece of whisky history from the famous Hakushu distillery and rare expression from the great Suntory Sherry Cask Limited Edition series, the Hakushu Sherry Cask 2013 Japan Single Malt Whisky was produced in contrast to the Yamazaki Sherry Cask in a significantly smaller edition of only 3000 pieces and is among connoisseurs, the discerning whisky collector and connoisseurs now like the rare bottlings of Karuizawa, Kawasaki and Hanyu among the sought-after Japanese single malt whiskies.
