The 12 years Macallan Sherry Oak Single Malt Scotch whisky matured for 12 years in hand-selected sherry oak casks from Jerez in Spain and was an integral part of the Macallan range for many years alongside the world-famous 18 Years Macallan Sherry Oak Single Malt. In recent years, however, it has only been available in a few markets or only rarely found and was not officially distributed in Germany - Macallan now has the 12 Years Sherry Oak Single Malt Scotch whisky back in its range in a new design, but the seasoned sherry casks used were only allowed to be stored in Jerez for up to 18 months and do not have the quality of the old bottlings.
The old bottlings of the 12 years Macallan Sherry Oak Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky from the 1990s and early 2000s show a wonderful symphony of flavours with sultanas, figs and sultanas and notes of dark chocolate, warm spices and a hint of orange peel, the finish is long with a pleasant warmth and shows the unique characteristics of the world-famous Macallan Sherry Oak Scotch Whiskies in a particularly impressive way.
