Macallan 1861 Replica Rare Reserve Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 42.7% ABV - old and rare limited bottling of a great Macallan
The Macallan Distillers LTD acquired a very rare bottle of The Macallan 1861 from a private collection in 1998, and presented Bob Dalgarno, Whisky Maker, with the formidable challenge of replicating it. In the end, Macallan vatted twenty-eight casks, at different ages, to achieve a balanced profile which, in the view from Macallan, reflects the true character, aroma and flavour of this historich whisky. Released in 2001, this was the Second release of The Macallan, in the Replica series of Whiskies. The Macallan 1861 has been created by John McWilliam, wine merchant of Craigellachie as a replica of the style, nose and flavour of an original bottle of The Macallan, distilled in 1861. Macallan is one of those distilleries that Collectors just love, and this bottling is no exception, rarely available anywhere.
