A exceptional vintage 1969 36 year old Macallan Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky by independent bottler Murray McDavid from the Mission Cask Strength Series under the direction of whisky legend Jim McEwan, which was matured for many years in Bourbon Cask and then finished in selected French Marsanne / Roussane Casks and bottled in 2006 without chill filtration or added colouring in an edition of 900 bottles at cask strength 41.0% vol.
The tradition of independent bottling goes back 150 years at Murray McDavid and at that time was the only way to enjoy the high-quality single malts of the smaller distilleries. Murray McDavid, the whisky bottler with a special claim, was founded by Mark Reynier, Simon Coughlin and Gordon Wright, whose ancestors had been in the whisky business for generations. They are supported by Andrew Gray and Jim McEwan, master distillers of the Bruichladdich distillery. They offer whisky connoisseurs the opportunity to taste exceptional rarities. The offer ranges from unknown to the most famous distilleries of different ages and special wood finishings. Only the best casks from the respective distilleries are selected and bottled without the addition of colourings or the use of cold filtering. With their high standards and self-imposed commitment to the highest possible quality and individuality of their whiskies, the independent bottlers today represent an important building block in the history of single malt whiskies and an enrichment of the market. The Scottish whisky company is one of the independent bottlers and went public with its first series in 1997 - especially old vintages of the renowned distilleries such as this rare and special vintage 1969 Macallan Highland Single Malt with the Marsanne / Roussanne-Cask finish are only rarely found and are among the sought-after rarities on the market.
