Macduff 1969 36 Years Sherry Cask 3684 Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 59.4% ABV from the Duncan Taylor Cask Strength Rare Auld Edition - one of only 135 Bottles!
A vintage 1969 limited release single-cask bottling of Macduff from independent bottler Duncan Taylor as part of the Rare Auld series. Distilled in April 1969 and aged in sherry oak cask 3684 for 36 years, yielding only 135 bottles in February 2006. A golden amber, 36 years old Highland single malt whisky. These Rare Malt bottlings are increasingly sought after nowadays. A great and limited rare old style single malt whisky from Macduff.
The Macduff distillery is located in Banff on the outskirts of the opposite bank of Deveron in Speyside, but the attributed to the Eastern Highlands in general. Macduff was founded in 1962 by the businessmen Brodie Hepburn, Marty Dykes and George Crawford. In 1972, she was taken over by William Lawson in 1980 and incorporated into the Martini group, which belongs to Bacardi since 1993. The water for the production comes from the Gelly source. The distillery began with two stills, a wash still (rough blister) and a Spirit style (Refining still). Over the years, the number of stills was increased steadily, so that currently two wash stills and three spirit stills are available. Macduff was from the outset open to changes and innovations in the production process. So they were the first Scottish distiller that began mashing metal vats. They heated their first stills with steam. To date, there is only one official single malt bottling under the name Macduff, otherwise only copies of independent bottlers are known and available on the market. In particular, the old bottlings from the 60s and 70s show exceptional quality and maturity and include among connoisseurs now with the coveted whisky rarities.
