Strathisla 25 Years Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky Gordon and MacPhail 43.0% ABV - rare version of a top whisky
A Gordon and MacPhail bottling of 25 year old whisky, a great value old bottling from the Strathisla distillery. Strathisla distillery was built in 1786 on the banks of the river Isla, and today is the oldest and most picturesque distillery in the highlands of Scotland. Chivas Brothers purchased Strathisla in 1950 to safeguard this special Speyside malt for Chivas Regal. With its short, small copper stills and natural spring water, Strathisla produces a full-bodied single malt Scotch whisky. The nose is quite full and well-balanced. There are notes of dark sugars and aged rums, brandy steeped fruitcake, orange juice and the marmalade made thereof with a resinous note. The palate is quite full and thick. There perfumy notes with juicy fruit and smoked meats. Hints of rubber and tarry ropes with dry, chewy oak with pepper. The finish is long and oaked with a degree of warmth and this bottle is somewhat reminiscent of their wonderful 25 year.
