W. L. Weller 12 Years Kentucky Straight Wheated Bourbon Whiskey 45.0% ABV - the award-winning Bourbon Whiskey of W.L. Weller
Born in 1825, William Larue Weller was one of the early distilling pioneers in Kentucky. After serving in the Louisville Brigade during the 1840s, William Larue Weller remained in Louisville and continued his family heritage of whiskey distilling. Mr. Weller was famous for being the firts distiller to produce Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey using wheat instead of rye in the mash bill. As the most distinguished distiller of this time, William Larue Weller spent many years educating consumers about the different styles of bourbon, and the special flavous that wheat imparted to his whiskey. The William Larue Weller line has always been a bit special among Buffalo Trace s offerings. Weller himself is often credited as the bottler who invented wheated bourbon, so it is appropriate that Weller is Buffalo Traces signature wheated line. For an American whiskey of this age this is excellent value and has almost reached the status of the Pappy Van Winkle line in its difficulty to find. The deep bronze color beautifully reflects the light...high-spirited, lusciously toasty, and animated bouquet that has top-notch Bourbon written all over it, dry, complex, and toasty palate - Paul Pacults Spirit Journal
