This rare vintage 1999 12 year old Ardbeg Galileo is a special Islay single malt Scotch whisky and a tribute to the first whisky in space. In 2011, Ardbeg sent a sample of Ardbeg new make to the International Space Station (ISS) to investigate how the whisky s maturation and ageing in oak wood would behave under the conditions of weightlessness. The fine Ardbeg Galelieo Islay Single Malt Scotch whisky is the legitimate successor to the Ardbeg Alligator, was distilled in 1999 and was matured for over 12 years in 1st fill bourbon casks and Italian Marsala wine casks and was bottled in the years 2012 without the addition of colourants and chill filtration in a limited edition at 49.0% vol.
The limited edition Ardbeg Galileo Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a special composition and presents itself soft and creamy with smoky notes and a pleasant sweetness with a clear grape flavour. It shows a light spiciness and flavours of oak, pepper, the finish is medium long and smoky with marzipan, nougat and spicy pepper.
