This special vintage 1991 16 year old Bowmore Port Cask Vintage Limited Edition Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is from a limited creation of just 24 carefully selected port casks, bottled uncoloured and unchill-filtered in the year 2007 at natural cask strength 53.1% vol. and is the third release in a series of four limited edition vintage Bowmore bottlings from the years 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1992 with maturation in different cask types.
Every part of the fine Bowmore Islay single malt Scotch whisky was processed by hand and distilled in 1989: the barley was processed into malt and traditionally dried in the distillery s kiln. After distillation, the new make spent 16 years slowly maturing in fresh port pipes before finally being bottled. This is a Bowmore Islay single malt Scotch whisky in its natural form, from the barley, its maturation and into the bottle. The result is a Bowmore single malt with ruby-red in colour, the flavours are big and lush - stewed berries, sweet black cherries and hints of dark chocolate underlined by a bright Bowmore smokiness.
