This exceptional and highly sought-after 30 years Bowmore Sea Dragon Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky consists mainly of 30-year-old Islay single malt from the 1960s and 1970s, matured predominantly in sherry casks. It was bottled by Morrison Bowmore Distillers in a limited edition of 1,800 bottles between 2003 and 2006 at 43.0% ABV and was awarded 91 points by Serge on Whiskyfun.
The name Sea Dragon derives from the Celtic legend of the dragon Kranna Dubh. According to tradition, this mystical primordial creature slumbers in the dark depths of Loch Indaal, right on the distillery s doorstep - an untamed force reflected in the multi-layered depth of this whisky. The cool, damp sea breezes, the rich peat deposits and the pure water lend Bowmore Single Malt Whisky its unique quality and delicately spicy complexity. Bowmore bottlings featuring distillate from the 1960s and early 1970s possess a legendary profile, often referred to as the distillery s golden age: a rare harmony of intense tropical fruits, rich sherry sweetness and the characteristic elegant coastal smoke.
