A rare vintage 2001 5 year old Bruichladdich Port Charlotte PC5 Heavily Peated Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky and the 1st limited release from the limited PC series respectively Evolution bottling in homage to the Port Charlotte distillery which closed in 1929, selected by Master Distiller Jim McEwan.
The Port Charlotte PC5 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky was distilled in 2001 and, after 5 years of maturation in selected bourbon casks, bottled in October 2006 without the addition of dyes and chill filtration in an edition of 6.038 individually numbered bottles at cask strength 63.5% vol.
The maturation in the selected bourbon casks created an absolutely wonderful Islay single malt with a beautiful golden colour and the classic and elegant Bruichladdich character with the power and presence of strong peat smoke. The Port Charlotte whiskies from the limited PC series under the direction of whisky legend Jim McEwan have become particularly sought-after among connoisseurs, whisky collectors and enthusiasts.
The Port Charlotte PC5 Islay Single Malt is a special piece of whisky history and an absolutely collectible historic bottling, because it is the first limited Port Charlotte original bottling and vision of Master Distiller as well as whisky legend Jim McEwan, which was matured under the new owner for 5 years in the old warehouses of the former Port Charlotte distillery directly by the sea in selected bourbon casks.
