A rare and unique vintage 2005 5 year old Octomore 03.1_152 super heavily peated Islay single malt scotch whisky and the 3rd release from the limited Octomore bottling series from the year 2010. The special Bruichladdich Octomore Edition 03.1 Ochdamh-mor Islay single malt Scotch whisky was distilled in the year 2005 and, after over 5 years of maturation in American oak bourbon casks, bottled in August 2010 without the addition of dyes or chill filtration in an edition of 18.000 individually numbered bottles at cask strength 59.0% vol. and 152 PPM.
The exceptionally heavily peated 5 years Octomore 03.1_152 Islay Single Malt Scotch whisky has been distilled in memory of the old Octomore distillery, located above Port Charlotte, and was one of the whiskies with the highest phenol content in its day. On the nose, the exquisite 5 years Octomore Edition 03.1_152 Bourbon Casks Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky reveals notes of rich peat smoke, soot, burnt wood, the sea with seaweed, brown sugar and syrup; the palate is dry and oily with salty smoke, sweet malt, dried fruit, citrus, charred oak and roasted notes; the finish is long and explosive with charcoal, damp earth, peat, smoke and dark chocolate - a typical and worthy Octomore Islay single malt!
