This extremely rare and extraordinary vintage 1988 19 years old Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey was distilled on 8. April 1988, stored for 10 years and 6 months in a Bourbon Barrel until 19. August 1998 and was matured for more than 6 years in a French Oak Chardonnay Cask until its bottling on 22. February 2007 without the addition of dyes at 45.0% Vol. The ageing took place in Warehouse I on Floor 1 and this single barrel whiskey, which is nearly 19 years old. This outstanding bourbon whiskey boasts more oak at the start, but finishes with the fruitiness of the wine influence. These special dark mahogany colored Bourbon Whiskey was the 2nd release of the Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection in 2007 and only 1 barrel was being bottled. This single barrel bourbon whiskey is one of the very rare rarities from Buffalo Trace s Experimental Collection, and with its extraordinary double maturation it is absolutely unique and almost impossible to find.
For more than two decades, Buffalo Trace has been experimenting with recipes and different processes to explore the effects of whiskey maturation and taste. Currently, there are more than 4,000 experimental barrel whiskeys of different ages in the warehouses of Buffalo Trace. Each of the barrels has unique characteristics and experimental changes in the mash calculation, wood species, barrel toasts and more. The experimental whiskey is periodically bottled and is available in limited quantities as a small limited edition, and the label contains all the facts about this unique whiskey. Due to the small available quantity, they are filled in bottles with 375ML content. These special Bourbon whiskeys from Buffalo Trace of the Experimental Collection are only delivered to a few selected dealers in the USA, are almost unavailable in Europe and are one of the absolute rarities among bourbon lovers and connoisseurs even at the special auctions of Bonhams, Krüger or Christies.
