A rare vintage 2003 11-year-old Enmore Demerara Guyana single cask Rum and special bottling from the Italian bottler Silver Seal and Ernesto Mainardi from the Silver Seal Wildlife single cask Rum series, which is well known among connoisseurs. This fine and exclusive Enmore Demerara premium single cask Rum was distilled in 2003 and matured for 11 years in a tropical climate in an oak cask with the cask no. 26 before it was bottled in the year 2015 without the addition of sugar and colouring in a limited edition of 288 individually numbered bottles at 50.0% vol. in support of Rock no War! in Scotland and was only available in a few European countries.
This exclusive Enmore Demerara Rum comes from the Diamond Estate, which was founded around 1670 and is the only rum distillery still in existence in Guyana. Located on the east bank of the Demerara River, the distillery is operated by Demerara Distillers Ltd (DDL), the company set up by the Guyana government to consolidate the country s rum production. This began in 1974 and culminated in the closure of Uitvlugt in 1999, after which the heritage stills were moved from Guyana to Diamond. The rum was distilled at Enmore in the wooden coffey still, also known as EHP. The still is made from Greenheart wood, which is native to Guyana and is mainly used in boat building as it remains stable even when constantly wet. The wood is also very suitable for distilling, as it removes the sulphites from the alcohol in a similar way to copper. The Enmore distillery has been producing rum since 1880 and is the last of its kind still in operation. The Enmore distillery was modelled almost exactly on the first continuous still, which was patented by Aeneas Coffey in 1832. The Enmore distillery is so named because it originally stood on the 200-year-old sugar estate of the same name. It was moved to Uitvlugt after the Enmore distillery closed in 1994.
The Silver Seal Whisky Company from Parma, Italy, is one of Italy s oldest independent bottlers of fine whiskies and premium rums, which places particular emphasis on quality, quantity and authenticity in its selection. The company is the successor to the bottling company Sestante Import Srl, which was founded in 1979 and ceased trading in 1990. Originally, Silver Seal only traded in various types of whisky from Scotland, but later decided to expand its operations and enter the independent rum trade and has also made a name for itself over the years with outstanding bottlings of Demerara rums. Over time, bottlings of rums from other countries such as Trinidad (mainly Caroni), Jamaica, Barbados, Haiti, Panama, Nicaragua etc. were added. Since 1999, Silver Seal has been bottling rums with the silver seal and always with very colourful bottle labels, in particular the unique Wildlife Collection with particularly exotic motifs from the Caribbean. This is also emphasised by the colourful and expressive labels, which feature all kinds of flora and fauna from the Caribbean. This has been delighting fans all over the world for many years, as it stands for the highest quality and most characterful rum varieties from all over the world and offers a high collector s value.
The company does not have its own warehouse capacity, but buys the casks directly from the distilleries and has them bottled in Scotland. The exquisite bottlings are distributed by Massimo Righi, the managing director of Whisky Antique in Italy.
