A rare and magnificent vintage 1979 38 year old Glenfarclas Highland single malt Scotch whisky from the Glenfarclas The Family Casks Summer 2018 single cask series and special bottling from a selected 4th fill hogshead. For this purpose, Glenfarclas filled a selected hogshead with cask no. 8796 in 1979, the new make matured for 38 years in the cask and was bottled in a limited edition of only 211 bottles on 2nd July 2018 without the addition of colourants and chill filtration at cask strength 49.4% vol. as a limited summer release S18.
The world-famous and unique single caks whiskies from the Glenfarclas Family Casks series contains selected single cask bottlings from various vintages, spanning 54 years without gaps since the early 1950s and is an exquisite collection of the best single casks from the old cask cellar of the Glenfarclas distillery. The exclusive and unique vintage 1979 38 years Glenfarclas 4th Fill Hogshead Cask No. 8796 Highland single malt Scotch whisky shows intense aromas of sweet fruits, honey, aniseed, apricot, fine oak, honeydew melon and marzipan on the nose, the flavour is intense, very concentrated and sweet with lots of marzipan, guava, starfruit, kiwi, some syrup, blossom honey, Ginger, lemongrass, cardamom, vanilla, macadamia and pecan nuts, liquorice, the finish is long, warm, with fruity sweetness, spices and fine woody notes - an absolutely successful Glenfarclas Highland single malt Scotch whisky with a lot of power, which is unrivalled today and was rated 91 points by Serge on Whiskyfun - http://www.whiskyfun.com - Comments: A notch higher still.
