This rare vintage 1990 17-year-old Glenfarclas Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is number 12 in the Glenfarclas special limited rare bottling series dedicated to the Scottish architect Charles Doig, from the year 2007. Charles Doig won a prize in an arithmetic competition at the age of just 14; after leaving school, he worked for the renowned architect John Carver and made a name for himself as an architect and civil engineer. He took a particular interest in whisky distilleries and developed the unique design of the kiln - the drying floor on which the previously soaked and germinated barley is dried over a peat fire. This process is of absolute importance to the flavour of the malt.
The exclusive vintage 1990 17-year-old Glenfarclas Highland Single Malt was distilled on 7th February and 23th April 1990, matured for 17 years in a selected refill sherry hogshead with cask no. 1088 and in two sherry butts with cask nos. 4705 and 4706, and was bottled on 26th September 2007 without the addition of colouring or chill filtration at 46.0% ABV, in a limited edition of 1,200 individually numbered bottles.
Since 1996, Glenfarclas has released a series of limited-edition bottlings special for Germany, each dedicated to a famous Scottish historical figure.
