Glenmorangie Grand Vintage 1990 25 Years Bond House No. 1 Collection Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 43.0% ABV - first release from the Grand Vintage Edition of Glenmorangie
The famous Grand Vintage 1990 25 year Old Glenmorangie Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the Bond House no. 1 collection was matured for a quarter of a century in ex-bourbon casks and a small part in ex-sherry casks and the result is an outstanding Highland single malt with a floral, fruity expression and an exceptional level of sophistication and resonance. Presented in an elaborate box made of fine wood, symbolising Bond Warehouse No.1, and shiny copper, in memory of the stills, this exceptional malt really comes into its own and is an eye-catcher in any collection.
The Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1990 is indicative of a year of change at the distillery. At the same time, the year 1990 is also memorable for another reason besides German reunification: the harvested barley proved to be very challenging for whisky production. Further processing in Scotland's distilleries was only possible under difficult conditions and only a small quantity of spirits was distilled. Despite these difficulties and much to the surprise of the master distillers, Glenmorangie New Make proved its outstanding quality. Maturation over a quarter of a century with Glenmorangie's special cask management resulted in a sumptuous bottling with aromas of heather honey, mandarin and candied fruit, merging into flavours of orange syrup, vanilla, herbs, baked apples and brown sugar.
The Bond House No. 1 collection gives whisky connoisseurs the extraordinary opportunity to discover the change in flavour nuances over individual decades and for successful work, the Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1990 received 94 points and the Liquid Gold Award in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2017.
