This almost 18-year-old Lagavulin Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the Classic Malts selection by Islay legend Lagavulin was distilled in 1979 and matured for almost 2 years in European Pedro Ximenez Sherry oak casks - these give the whisky more fruit such as sultanas and dried fruit and a syrupy character. The bottling was done in 1997 at 43.0% abv and batch number lgv.04/463 under the direction of Distiller Manager M. Nicholson.
This early version and old inaugural release from the Lagavulin Distillers Edition Special Release series is one of the rarest old Lagavulin bottlings today - a special piece of whisky history for connoisseurs, whisky-collectors and lovers of first-class old Scotch whiskies!
