A rare vintage 1997 16 year old Laguvulin s Double Matured Distillers Edition Special Release Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the year 2013. This 16 years Islay single malt Scotch whisky from the Classic Malts Selection by Islay legend Lagavulin was distilled in the year 1997 and matured for up to 6 months in European Pedro Ximenez sherry oak casks - these give the whisky more fruit, such as sultanas and dried fruit, and a syrupy character. The bottling took place in the year 2013 at 43.0% vol. and the batch number lgv.04/502 under the direction of distillery manager Georgie Crawford and is the first in the new design.
Ingenious and complex, this mellowed Islay single malt delivers the expected Lagavulin intensity with elegance and style. With its beautiful copper colour, this Vintage 1997 16 Years Lagavulin Islay Single Malt Scotch whisky shows its complexity and maturity, combined with a rich nose of intense peat and vanilla, sweet sultanas and smoke with crisp, toasted malt. Full-bodied, smooth and pleasant to drink, with notes of malt, peat bogs and smoke, salt with coffee, vanilla and fruit. The finish is complex and very long with malt, peat, smoke and oak, salt with coffee, vanilla and fruit.
