A rare vintage 1998 13 year old Lagavulin Islay Single Malt Scotch whisky as a single cask special bottling for the Feis Ile Festival 2011, distilled on 23 February 1998 and selected personally from warehouse no. 1 by Iain McArthur after 13 years of maturation in a refill sherry butt with cask no. 1715. The stunning Lagavulin Islay Single Malt Scotch whisky was bottled on 6th April 2011 without added colouring and chill filtration at cask strength with 51.0% vol. in an edition of only 588 individually numbered bottles and was only available for visitors to the distillery on site.
This special Lagavulin Islay Single Malt Scotch whisky is one of the few single cask bottlings from Lagavulin, was sold out within a short time and officially not available in the trade.
One of the outstanding and rare Lagavulin single cask bottlings, an absolutely magnificent Lagavulin Islay single malt and a special highlight for connoisseurs, discerning whisky collectors and lovers of fine old Scotch whiskies.
- Nose: salty lemon, iodine, wet earth, overripe fruit, honey, vanilla and subtle sherry
- Palate: creamy-oily and soft texture with a lot of power, vanilla, salt and smoke combined with sherry notes and honey, dried fruit and oranges, fresh and with burnt wood and peat
- Finish: long, strong with a lot of spice and pepper pronounced with some oak, honey with creamy vanilla and peaty character at the end
