Laphroaig 10 Years Bourbon Casks Vintage 1980s Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 43.0% Vol. - a magnificent and rare pre-warrant Old Style Laphroaig Islay Single Malt from the early 1990s!
A rare and iconic 10-year-old Laphroaig Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, distilled in the early 1980s and bottled in the early 1990s as a limited release 1.0-litre bottle for the travel retail market at 43.0% ABV.
Today, the term Pre-Warrant sets the hearts of collectors and whisky lovers worldwide beating faster. In 1994, Prince Charles (now King Charles III) granted his favourite Scottish distillery the Royal Warrant - the status of purveyor to the royal household - and since then, the coat of arms featuring the three ostrich feathers has adorned every bottle of Laphroaig. This old 10-year-old Laphroaig Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky bottle dates from the period before that. It was an era when whisky production depended less on computer control and more on manual labour, the weather and the peat cutter. The barley was turned almost exclusively on the distillery s own malting floors and dried over that unmistakable, seaweed-infused Islay peat that made Laphroaig a legend.
This special and terrific 10-year-old Laphroaig Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is now considered one of Laphroaig s legendary vintage bottlings, in which the harsh Atlantic climate surrounding the island of Islay can literally be tasted on the palate. The oak casks used in the production of the 10 Year Old Laphroaig Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky are lightly charred before filling to impart the slightly sweet, vanilla-nutty notes of the oak. This iconic old Laphroaig Islay Single Malt embodies the classic character of bygone days, presenting a mineral and powerful nose with aromas of nuts, nougat, medicinal notes, sea salt, peat and smoke; the palate is medicinal and old-fashioned with heavy iodine, tar, sea salt, peat smoke, old leather, machine oil and exotic fruits; the finish is medium-length, rich and full-bodied with peat and nuts - this unique profile of the old bottlings, with its perfect balance of dirty peat and vibrant tropical fruits, makes these old Laphroaig whiskies truly unique, and the clean, minimalist design without the royal seal is the direct fingerprint of a bygone era and a piece of liquid whisky history.
This multi-award-winning and highly sought-after 10-year-old Laphroaig Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, featuring the without feathered crest label, is in near-perfect collector s condition and comes with the card tube from the early 1990s. It is now a hard-to-find gem and a special highlight for connoisseurs, discerning whisky collectors and lovers of fine old Scotch whiskies.
