This rare 8-year-old Littlemill Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 40.0% ABV was bottled in the late 1990s or early 2000s and comes from Scotland s oldest licensed distillery, founded in 1772 in Bowling on the banks of the River Clyde. The Littlemill distillery weathered centuries, wars and crises - until it was closed down in 1994 and a devastating fire in 2004 destroyed the distillery forever. All that remains are the dwindling reserves from the last casks, and every bottle of the 8 years Littlemill Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is an irreplaceable piece of liquid whisky history.
Littlemill was never an ordinary Lowland whisky either. Whilst the Lowland region is known for light, triple-distilled whiskies, Littlemill forged its own path and used hybrid stills with rectification columns - an experimental approach that produced a uniquely pure and floral-fruity spirit, the flavour of which cannot be replicated.
The 8 years Littlemill Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is sweet and floral with aromas of pineapple, vanilla and citrus notes on the nose; the flavour is fruity and floral with vanilla, caramel, hay, white pepper, cinnamon and oak; the finish is light, smooth and of medium length, with notes of oak, vanilla and caramel - for its young age, it beautifully showcases the original character of the historic Littlemill Lowland distillery!
