This special old-style vintage 1963 18-year-old Macallan Highland single malt was bottled without the addition of colorants or chill filtration at 43.0% ABV and is part of the series that helped Macallan achieve its almost legendary reputation: pure sherry cask bottlings. In the early 1960s, Macallan focused on sherry cask-matured single malts and, with its exceptional cask policy, quickly gained great recognition among whisky connoisseurs worldwide. At that time, they experimented with different sherry casks and then decided to use European Oloroso casks, which had previously been used to store the world-famous Spanish liqueur wine.
Today, the 18-year-old Macallan Sherry Oak Scotch Whisky is one of the best-known and most sought-after whiskies, enjoys a legendary reputation for its excellent quality and can certainly be described as an icon among Scotch whiskies.
