The exclusive Macallan Folio 5 Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the fifth release from The Macallan Archival Series, an iconic series celebrating Macallan s legendary advertising campaigns of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s and a limited edition revival of The Macallan s old advertising style. The special Macallan Folio 5 Highland Single Malt commemorates an advert featuring the tale of a Luggy Bonnet with the words Keep this knot firmly tied. The sketched image recollects a scene of acquaintances at the end of a day on Speyside when one sportsman talks of a so-called disaster, missing the opportunity of a dram of The Macallan from the Laird as a result of his hat covering his ears.
The Macallan Folio 5 single malt Scotch whisky is presented in special tin-book style packaging containing a bound book, reminiscent of the advertising of the time. This captivating Macallan Highland Single Malt Whisky boasts a rich aroma of dates and fresh figs, merging into sweet sultanas with a warming ginger and wood spice. The Macallan Folio 5 Single Malt Scotch Whisky is inspired by the iconic advert, bringing this memorable campaign back to life after many years.
The Macallan Archival collection first appeared in 2015 and goes back to Sir John Hegarty of the advertising agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty, who was responsible for the advertising campaign at the time. According to this, Sir Sir John Hegarty commented on this iconic advertising campaign in a press article. He said that occasionally there are communications that capture the special essence of a brand. Because it would simply be impossible to separate the advertising from the actual product. Looking back today, or rather 25 years later, and remembering that time is the best critic of all, I am even more firmly convinced of what I said then. I would also add the attributes funny, intelligent, distinctive and above all unforgettable. Creativity can be described as an expression of personality. And the advertising of the time is indeed an expression of the personality of this now world-famous and famous whisky from the house of Macallan.
The Macallan Folio 5 Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky was bottled in 2019 in a limited edition of 3250 bottles (unconfirmed!) in the special Achival Series at 43.0% vol. and was only available by ballot on the Macallan website in February 2020.
