A rare and unique vintage 2006 5 year old Octomore 04.1_167 super heavily peated Islay single malt scotch whisky and the 4th release from the limited Octomore bottling series from the year 2011. The special Bruichladdich Octomore Edition 04.1 Ochdamh-mor Islay single malt Scotch whisky was distilled in the year 2005 and, after over 5 years of maturation in American oak bourbon casks, bottled in June 2011 without the addition of dyes or chill filtration in an edition of 15.000 individually numbered bottles at cask strength 62.5% vol. and 167 PPM.
The exceptionally heavily peated 5 years Octomore 04.1_167 Islay Single Malt Scotch whisky has been distilled in memory of the old Octomore distillery, located above Port Charlotte, and was one of the whiskies with the highest phenol content in its day. On the nose, the exquisite 5 years Octomore Edition 04.1_167 Bourbon Casks Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky reveals notes of smoked bacon, chocolate, salt, lemon zest, coffee, earth, sea, charred wood and soft peat; the palate is dry and full-bodied with peat smoke, sea, barbecue notes, chocolate, coffee, almonds, plums, citrus fruits and seaweed; the finish is long and lingering with smoke, aniseed, vanilla, pepper and oak - a typical and worthy Octomore Islay single malt!
