Port Ellen 1975 23 Years Oak Cask Samaroli Very Limited Edition Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 45.0% Vol. - one of just 744 bottles of an absolutely rare old Port Ellen Islay Single Malt by Samaroli!
An absolutely rare and exclusive vintage 1975 23-year-old Port Ellen Islay single malt Scotch whisky from the independent bottler Samaroli and the very limited edition single cask bottling series, which was matured for 23 years in a selected oak cask and bottled at 45.0% abv in the year 1998 in a limited edition of just 744 individually numbered bottles.
This particular old vintage 1975 23-year-old Port Ellen Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky divides opinion amongst experts in a fascinating way and is regarded by connoisseurs as highly idiosyncratic, with a unique, extremely austere, maritime and mineral-driven style that reveals itself on the nose with strong sea salt, toasted notes, ash, medicinal notes, dark chocolate and leather. The flavour is oily and resinous, peppery and salty, and unusual, with notes of chalk, iodine, smoked olive oil, espresso, sourdough, peat and oak; the finish is of medium length, maritime and peaty, with peat smoke, iodine and mandarins. Serge Valentin of Whiskyfun described this old Port Ellen by Samaroli as tough and unyielding, whilst other connoisseurs find its exceptionally mineral and salty complexity simply wonderful.
A special piece of whisky history and a historic bottling from the old distillery Port Ellen of an exceptional vintage 1975 23-year-old Port Ellen Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky by Samaroli from the year 1998 - now an absolute rarity and extremely hard to find - an exclusive highlight for connoisseurs, discerning whisky collectors and lovers of fine old Scotch whiskies!
