Very Olde St. Nick 20 Years Very Rare Ancient Estate Barrel Strength 94 Proof Handmade Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 47.0% Vol. - extremely rare old bottling of a first-class Bourbon Whiskey for the Japanese market!
This very rare 20-year-old handmade Very Olde St. Nick Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey with the blue wax capsule and a dark amber color comes from the limited Ancient Estate Barrel Strength Edition and was bottled without adding dyes and chill filtration at 94 Proof / 47.0% vol. One of the few still existing bottlings from this extraordinary series of first-class Bourbon and Rye whiskeys from the Olde St. Nick Distillery in Bardstown, which was produced in the late 1970s by Willett respectively Kentucky Bourbon Distillers or in the Stitzel-Weller distillery Lawrenceburg.
Very Olde St. Nick is a whiskey label that was bottled by Julian Van Winkle and Kentucky Bourbon Distillers exclusively for the Japanese export market back in the early 2000s. Back then, the Japanese market was much more interested in super-aged bourbons than the the American market. These bourbons and ryes likely came from some of the same sources that went into the legendary Willett and Black Maple Hill bottlings from that era. The ryes are most likely to be from the old Bernheim or Medley distilleries, the bourbons could be from any number of sources. These are extremely rare. Even in Japan, they haven t been available for years, except for the occasional dusty.
In response to a question about Very Olde St. Nick this post found from Julian Van Winkle in 2000 on Straight Bourbon: Olde St. Nick is bottled in Bardstown by Evan Kulsvein. He buys his whiskey from Heaven Hill. This label was ceated by a lady in CA some years ago who sells my whiskey in Japan. I actually used to bottle this whiskey for her, and she would ship to Japan. Years ago, I did not have much older whiskey, so she switched to Evan who had the Heaven Hill supply.
Of this extraordinary bourbon whiskey, only a few have found their way to Europe and even at the special auctions of Bonhams, Krüger and Christies this bourbon was rarely found. A special piece of whiskey history and extremely rare collector s whiskey for lovers and connoisseurs of outstanding and old Bourbon whiskeys!
