This rare and exquisite vintage 1999 20-year-old Bowmore Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the specially selected hand-filled limited release distillery exclusive single cask bottling series was distilled on 20th January 1999 and was matured for over 20 years in a select Pedro Ximénez sherry cask with cask no. 26 in the Bowmore No.1 Vaults, before being bottled on 15th July 2019 exclusively for visitors to the distillery on site at natural cask strength 56.1% ABV.
Every part of this exclusive Bowmore Single Cask Scotch Whisky was crafted by hand and distilled in 1999: the barley was malted and dried traditionally in the distillery's kiln. After distillation, the spirit spent over 20 years slowly maturing in a Pedro Ximénez sherry cask before finally being bottled by hand on site for a select few visitors to the distillery. The result is a unique and almost ingenious Bowmore Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky with a deep mahogany colour; the aromas are complex and intense, featuring sweet smoke and delicate peat, dark chocolate, raisins, liquorice, sherry and oak spice; the palate is delicate and fresh with sweet sherry, dates, dark berries, espresso and wood smoke; the finish is long and warm with sweet sherry, wood, sour cherries, coffee and red fruits - a delicate and characterful Bowmore Islay Single Malt!
