This rare vintage 2000 17 year old hand-filled distillery only limited edition Bowmore Islay Single Malt Scotch whisky was distilled on 6th November 2000 and, after more than 17 years of maturation in a 1st fill Oloroso sherry cask with the cask no. 2488 from the no.1 vaults, was bottled on 19th September 2018 at natural cask strength 57.1% vol. in an edition of only 489 (unconfirmed!) bottles and was not officially available in the trade.
Every part of the whisky was finished by hand and distilled in 2000 : the barley was malted, hand turned and tradionally peat kiln dried at the distillery. After distillation at 6. November 2000, the spirit spent more than 17 years slowly maturing in a 1st Fill Oloroso Sherry cask before finally for a small number of visitors could be filled by hand from the cask at 19th September 2018. This is a Bowmore in its natural form, of the barley, and its maturation in the cask.
A delicate vintage 2000 17 years Bowmore Islay Single Malt Whisky matured in exquisite Oloroso sherry cask, with a full body reminiscent of times gone by, it can certainly compete with the legendary bottlings from the 1960s and 1970s or a Seadragon.
Due to the limited edition of the Bowmore hand-filled distillery only single cask series, this exquisite vintage 2000 17 years Bowmore Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is rarely found and is already considered one of the most sought-after bottlings among connoisseurs, whisky collectors and lovers of exceptional and fine old Scotch whiskies.
