This rare vintage 1989 26 year old Bruichladdich Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky was distilled in the year 1989, matured for many years in a bourbon cask and enhanced maturing in a French Guigal Condrieu oak wine cask with cask no. R07/017 No. 011, before being bottled in April 2016 as no. 20 for The Budgie Duncan MacFadyen in the Laddie Crew Valinch series, available only at the distillery visitor centre, without added colouring or chill filtration, at cask strength 50.6% vol. in a limited edition of only 402 individually hand-numbered bottles.
A valinch, possibly from a Spanish term, is the name applied to a large, copper pipette used to take cask samples from whisky barrels. The view is if you have made the effort to get to Islay then you deserve something just a little extra special. Valinchs are by definition only ever at cask strength, from a single barrel, and selected by Jim McEwan for individuality. Each Valinch released has it s own label and title, usually to commemorate a specific event or person.
A rare bottling of a great Bruichladdich Islay Single Malt, which impressively shows in the taste the maturation in the bourbon cask and the finish or double maturation in the French Guigal Condrieu wine cask with a complex aroma and the extremely successful combination as well as the influence of the expressive and unique French white wine from the small Condrieu region in the Rhone Valley.
