The magnificent Macallan Edition No.3 Roja Dove Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky is the third release in Macallan s special limited edition series from the year 2017 and the result of the successful collaboration between Bob Dalgarno, Macallan s Master Whisky Maker and world-renowned perfumer Roja Dove.
The third bottling in the Macallan Edition series, which focuses on the importance of cask selection, is a blend of six different cask types and sizes, all of which are perfectly presented here. The exceptional oak casks used come from Bodegas Hudosa and Tevasa as well as 1st and 2nd refill European and American oak butts, 1st fill American oak bourbon barrels and hogsheads and were selected and compiled by The Macallan s Master Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno and Roja Dove. The distinctive character and dynamics of The Macallan Edition No. 3 Roja Dove Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky have been shaped not only by the six exceptional oak cask types from two different Spanish bodegas, but also by the creative influence of Bob Dolgarno and Master Perfumer Roja Dove, who combined different flavours to bring their own personality to the final product.
Roja brought his skills to the distillery and the creative process by tasting a series of whisky samples to share his thoughts and interpretations of the character and flavours he found. The flavours articulated by Roja were then used in the creation of the whisky to select the dominant notes that make up the final character of Macallan Edition No.3 Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky. Sourced from a combination of European and American oak casks, Macallan Edition No.3 Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky has a sweet and fruity character that balances the heavy base typical of Macallan single malt whiskies with citrus, vanilla, flowers and fresh cut oak.
The Macallan Edition No. 3 Roja Dove Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky was produced in limited quantities and bottled without the addition of colouring at 48.3% vol.
