Macallan Gran Reserva 1980 18 Years Sherry Wood Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 40.0% Vol. - one of only 1.100 bottles and an outstanding Macallan Highland Single Malt in nearly perfect condition!
The rare and exclusive vintage 1980 18 year old Macallan Gran Reserva Sherry Wood Highland Single Malt is the second release of the legendary Gran Reserva limited edition from the year 1999 and a truly fabulous dram from the house of Macallan and with its voluminous, heavily sherried style, there is widely acknowledged to be no better malt than The Macallan.
Matured in select sherry casks, today's highly sought-after Macallan Gran Reserva is one of the best whiskies in its class, providing a perfect interplay of sherry, malt, light smoky tones with a dryness, roundness and depth all its own. An unquestionably excellent Highland single malt Scotch whisky with lush, bold, clear tones from aroma to finish. Macallan still used the rare ministrel barley variety Golden Promise at this time, which has been abandoned by other distilleries as it is considered too difficult and expensive to grow, but its rich natural oiliness allows the whisky to mature for a particularly long time. The Macallan, on the other hand, believes that it is just right for the rich and sensual character of a The Macallan whisky. The water, an important raw material for whisky production, comes from the estate's own spring and is fresh, natural and without any flavour of its own. The oily consistency allows for long storage in oak casks. This special Macallan single malt matured exclusively in selected sherry casks from Jerez in Spain and its dark colour, complex aroma as well as heavy taste distinguish this exceptional and unique single malt whisky and rightly make it the Rolls-Royce among whiskies.
The vintage 1980 18 years Macallan Gran Reserva Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky was bottled in the year 1999 in a limited edition of around 1.100 bottles at 40.0% vol. and is today one of the most sought-after old bottlings from Macallan among investors, the discerning whisky-collectors and enthusiasts of exclusive old style Scotch whiskies!
