With the Macallan 1874 Replica Pure Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Macallan Whisky Maker Frank Newlands has taken the taste and design of one of the oldest surviving Scotch whiskies from 1874 and created this limited edition replica whisky after sampling the old whisky and bottled it as the first release from the Macallan Replica series in a limited edition at 45.0% vol. in the year 2002.
At great expense and with passionate commitment, Frank Newland and a team of experts examined samples from a good 1,500 casks and tested over 40 compositions before all the necessary criteria specified by the original were met and created a replica of the Macallan 1874 from 20 sherry butts and hogsheads with an age of 19-33 years.
Whatever the provenance of the bottles that were replicated - in any case a special piece of whisky history and exclusive Macallan Single Malt Scotch Whisky, which was awarded 95 points by Michael Jackson for its exceptional quality.
